Who's Who at HWC

Who's Who at HWC

By Cameron Butler
Editor-in-Chief

Students and faculty at Harold Washington College were greeted this Fall with feelings of déjà vu over an unwelcomed pandemic upsurge, forcing many to retreat back into the digital realm of education via Zoom.

With students and staff also now wearing masks on campus, combined with a multitude of new administrative faces, many may be unsure of who’s who. Here are eight administrators who students might need to know, in no particular order.

Also included are eight HWC department links for students and staff alike to utilize.

Juan Salgado - Chancellor, City Colleges of Chicago- jsalgado@ccc.edu

Daniel López, Jr., Ph.D. - President, Harold Washington College- dlopez1@ccc.edu

Jacquelyn Werner - Dean of Student Services- jwerner9@ccc.edu

Aja Humphreys - Director of Student Activities- ahumphreys@ccc.edu

“Student Activities Department is where students can find HWC fun! The department offers opportunities for students to be involved with the college, even in our virtual settings. I encourage students to get the most out of their college experience. HWC students can join or start clubs, as well as participate in events. Becoming a student leader of a club builds leadership skills that students can put on resumes and transfer applications. Students should check their emails for HWC Student Events announcements to find out about the exciting programs that are offered.”

Kim Bowens - Assistant Dean of Early College and Matriculation- kbowens3@ccc.edu

Nicolette Radford - Director of Disability Access Center- nradford@ccc.edu

Brandon Hopkins - Director of Information Technology- bhopkins19@ccc.edu

“The purpose of the Office of Information Technology is to support the overall mission of Harold Washington College by providing technical support, innovative technological solutions, and a modern instructional environment where students can realize their educational goals. We are a small, yet extremely efficient team who collaborates with each other, our colleagues at District, and others across the organization to empower instructors in their courses, support staff in their administrative operations, and help students fully engage with every element of Harold Washington College.”

Kimberly Valenza - Director of Academic Support Services- kvalenza@ccc.edu
