The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) have implemented reopening plans in order to continue to provide services to students in all of the seven campuses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each campus has its own reopening plan created in collaboration with the Chicago Department of Public Health, the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Illinois Board of Higher Education and the Centers for Disease Control.
The reopening plan for Harold Washington College (HWC) outlines three goals: prioritizing safety and wellness of students, faculty, staff and visitors, listening to student concerns to help them achieve their goals, and adapting to changing conditions with the advice of health organizations, according Daniel Lopez, Jr., President of HWC.
Kent Lusk, a co-chair of the HWC Reopening Planning Team, says that part of the reopening plan includes protocols and procedures for sanitizing facilities, a building entry plan adhering to social distancing, entry into the building, and making personal protective equipment accessible for students faculty and staff.
Most Spring 2021 credit classes will continue to be offered remotely as outlined by a November 4, 2020 news release from CCC. There is currently no indication as to when all courses will be reopened for in-person instruction.
“The health and safety of our college community and supporting our students in reaching their academic goals are our top priorities,” said Juan Salgado, Chancellor of CCC.
The HWC Reopening Plan has links to school offices and departments that can be utilized virtually, such as Admissions, Tutoring, and Advising.
