Student Services Offered Virtually in Midst of Pandemic

Student services have gone virtual in an effort to provide the same level of support as virtual learning remains largely in place. Virtual Student Services (VSS) has become the singular destination for resources to help students navigate their academic experience.
“Virtual services offer a more convenient way for students to access our services,” said Shannon Jeter, an employee of HWC Wellness Center. “Students can access our services from the comfort of their own homes. We’ve seen a pretty positive response.”
Students can get information and schedule virtual appointments with Admissions, Financial Aid, Advising, Tutoring, and access the virtual library and Wellness Center. The VSS page also provides students with live support Monday through Friday during regular business hours, answers frequently asked questions and provides COVID-19 and reopening updates.
Initially, response to the virtual student services was not as immediate.
“Early on in the pandemic, it was somewhat slow. Now we are seeing the same amount of students as we did in-person,” said Juan Mora from the HWC Tutoring Center. “We’ve learned to adapt and figured out a way to communicate to the students in a way that still makes sense to them.”
Incoming and current students alike can visit the VSS page. Students can find the link on any of the CCC’s website home page under virtual student services. The page can also be accessed at: https://prepare.ccc.edu/hwvss/
