The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recently changed their guidelines for travel and social gatherings. Though non-essential travel is not recommended, the CDC website suggests following the travel guidelines to help reduce the chance of contracting and spreading COVID-19.
Avoiding destinations that no longer enforce restrictions or have high numbers of COVID cases is key, according to the CDC website, along with driving to destinations when possible.
Earlier this month, Chicago loosened its COVID-19 restrictions for indoor dining, capacity limits, and operating times for bars and restaurants. Museums and other cultural institutions also started to reopen their doors to the public.

According to Lightfoot, following the guidelines and assessing the risks of the activities can help protect the community at large.
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) recommends continuing to follow the three W’s: wear a face-covering,wash hands with soap and water, and watch the physical distance from others.
