The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) website states that the various policies were updated in CCC's official policy document following board approval on April 2, 2020. The change was inadvertently missed in the transition to the new academic policy site.
The following sections of the Student Policy Manual were then added on March 5, 2021:
2.04 Assessment & Placement – Credit Students Procedures: Assessment & Placement
2.09 Credit by Assessment of Prior Learning Procedures
3.08 Grade Designations
3.13 Non-Grade Designations
6.11 Class Withdrawals & Refunds Renamed: formerly Student Initiated Withdrawals & Refunds
8.02 Name Change
8.18 Standards of Conduct
Many of the updates consist of minor changes. The most notable changes/updates are in the following sections:
· Class Withdrawals & Refunds - No-cost re-takes for students who complete any course and receive a final grade or No Credit due to COVID-19 in Spring 2020 classes. Students must repeat the course before the end of the Spring 2023 term for the free retake opportunity.
· Standards of Conduct - expands the existing definitions of Conduct that threaten health or safety. The update also includes new definitions of Conduct involving Clinical/Practicum Misconduct, Violations of CCC policies, Breaching Campus Safety or Security, as well as outlining the Student Optional Disclosure of Private Mental Health Act.
Harold Washington students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the policy manual as these updates could directly affect them.
